UNSEASONED FIREWOOD
from R Bell UK Ltd, Norfolk

Available within 15 miles of North Walsham, with free delivery.

R Bell UK Ltd logs are unseasoned. Ideal for those with space to store and season at home.

The wood is not suitable for burning until it has been dried. You should not burn wood until it has a moisture content of 20% or less.

Store and allow to dry it in a sunny, well-aired space keeping rain off. Keep off the ground, e.g. on a pellet and allow air to circulate. Do not closely cover logs, leave them on wet ground or open to the elements. As the wood dries, radial cracks appear and bark comes off easily suggests wood that is ready for burning.

Test the wood when you think it is ready for burning, ideally with a moisture meter. First calibrate the meter and then measure a freshly split surface to get the best reading.

All of our firewood is generated from our own tree services work or sourced within the UK.

We supply two types of firewood, mixed logs (50/50 softwood and hardwood) or just hardwood, delivered 2.8 cubic metre loads on our tipper truck. All our firewood logs are approximately 8-10 inches in length, thickness may vary.

Softwood is useful for starting a fire and when you need a fire for a short period of time, as it is less dense and produces a stronger flame and burns faster than hardwoods.

Hardwoods are very dense which means the firewood will burn for a longer time as it has a higher calorific density.
